Just how high will quarterback Geno Smith be taken in the NFL Draft?

This former West Virginia star could be taken No. 1 overall if Kansas City can trade out of the top spot to a would be taker looking to land Smith.

Of course Jacksonville, Oakland, Philadelphia and even Cleveland, will strongly consider Smith if he's available. Then you have teams like Arizona at No. 7 and Buffalo at No. 8 who are both in desperate need for a signal caller.

Don't forget about quarterback Matt Barkley from USC. He has his pro day later on this week. With a strong showing he could find his way into the first round and even challenge Smith as the top quarterback taken. I have both quarterbacks off the boards with picks seven and eight below, as things stand in this mock draft for now.

Round 1
1
Kansas City Chiefs
Player: Luke Joeckel
Height: 6-6
Weight: 306
Hometown: Arlington, TX
College: Texas A&M
Class: 2013 JR
Position: OT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 2
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Andy Reid

2012 Record: 2-14

ANALYSIS: Kansas City and new head coach Andy Reid have been very active this off-season, first with the Alex Smith trade and then shoring up some positions in free agency like cornerback, defensive tackle and tight end. Look for the Chiefs to take their top offensive tackle on the board.

Round 1
2
Jacksonville Jaguars
Player: Dion Jordan
Height: 6-6
Weight: 248
Hometown: Chandler, AZ
College: Oregon
Class: 2013 SR
Position: DE
Rating:
Overall Rank: 3
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Gus Bradley

2012 Record: 2-14

ANALYSIS: It will be hard to pass on a franchise left tackle like Eric Fisher but new Jacksonville head coach Gus Bradley has to re-build the Jags defense and Dion Jordan is one of the most dynamic defensive prospects in this draft. He’s too good and too versatile to pass up.

Round 1
3
Oakland Raiders
Height: 6-2
Weight: 297
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
College: Florida
Class: 2013 JR
Position: DT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 4
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Dennis Allen

2012 Record: 4-12

ANALYSIS: Oakland is always a wildcard when it comes to the draft and this year is no different. They need help at all three levels of the defense and could go defensive tackle, outside linebacker or cornerback. Or do they go quarterback and nab Geno Smith? Raiders are in a nice position and could move down. As things stand now look for them to draft defensive tackle Sharrief Floyd. They just have too many issues up front.

Round 1
4
Philadelphia Eagles
Player: Eric Fisher
Height: 6-7
Weight: 306
Hometown: Rochester Hills, MI
Class: 2013 SR
Position: OT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 1
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Chip Kelly

2012 Record: 4-12

ANALYSIS: If Chip Kelly wants to get the Eagles flying on offense he needs to shore up his offensive line. Plus, they just have too many issues up front despite needing another pass rusher and some help at cornerback. Philly grabs Fisher and they could be set for the next decade. Would Fisher make the move to the right side to protect Michael Vick's blind side?

Round 1
5
Detroit Lions
Ezekiel Ansah
Height: 6-5
Weight: 271
Hometown: Accra, Ghana
College: BYU
Class: 2013 SR
Position: DE
Rating:
Overall Rank: 6
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Jim Schwartz

2012 Record: 4-12

ANALYSIS: The Lions could go in one of a few directions here but they need to address their defense with a better rush and to upgrade their back end. It would be tough to bypass Dee Milliner but the best thing for poor secondary play is getting to the quarterback. They also need help at offensive tackle but it’s hard seeing them draft Lane Johnson here. Ezekiel Ansah hasn't even scratched the surface of how good he can become. His upside as a defensive end is as good as anyone in this draft.

Round 1
6
Cleveland Browns
Dee Milliner, Alabama
Player: Dee Milliner
Height: 5-11.5
Weight: 201
Hometown: Millbrook, AL
College: Alabama
Class: 2013 JR
Position: CB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 8
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Rob Chudzinski

2012 Record: 5-11

ANALYSIS: The Browns hit on a few needs in free agency and spent a lot of money on a few positions like outside linebacker and on the defensive front. Here, they are jacked up because Dee Milliner is still on the board. Now they will have two young cornerbacks for their defense.

Round 1
7
Arizona Cardinals
Player: Geno Smith
Height: 6-2
Weight: 218
Hometown: Miramar, FL
College: West Virginia
Class: 2013 SR
Position: QB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 19
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Bruce Arians

2012 Record: 5-11

ANALYSIS: How can the Cardinals not draft a quarterback here as things stand on their roster right now? It’s a horrendous situation. They have to grab their highest rated guy and if things go accordingly they could have their pick of the quarterback litter. It’s Geno Smith heading to the desert.

Round 1
8
Buffalo Bills
Player: Matt Barkley
Height: 6-2
Weight: 227
Hometown: Santa Ana, CA
College: USC
Class: 2013 SR
Position: QB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 30
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Doug Marrone

2012 Record: 6-10

ANALYSIS: Bills GM Buddy Nix has stated he wants to draft a franchise quarterback. If Buffalo wants Barkley they grab him here. Doug Marrone will implement his version of Sean Payton's offense and Barkley seems like a great fit to flourish.

Round 1
9
New York Jets
Height: 6-4
Weight: 241
Hometown: West Monroe, LA
College: LSU
Class: 2013 JR
Position: DE
Rating:
Overall Rank: 7
Pos Rank: 3

Head Coach: Rex Ryan

2012 Record: 6-10

ANALYSIS: Rex Ryan needs help at multiple positions as his Jets team needs to start re-building. Look for Ryan and new New York general manager John Idzik to go after the top pass rusher available. Will it be Barkevious Mingo or Jarvis Jones? Ryan loves Mingo from LSU.

Round 1
10
Tennessee Titans
Height: 6-2
Weight: 317
Hometown: Atlanta, GA
College: Alabama
Class: 2013 SR
Position: OG
Rating:
Overall Rank: 11
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Mike Munchak

2012 Record: 6-10

ANALYSIS: The Titans landed offensive guard Andy Levitre in free agency but they still need to replenish the offensive front. Alabama offensive guard Chance Warmack is too good to pass up. Tennessee has to get better up front, especially in the run game and kick starting the speedy Chris Johnson.

Round 1
11
San Diego Chargers
Lane Johnson
Player: Lane Johnson
Height: 6-6
Weight: 303
Hometown: Groveton, TX
College: Oklahoma
Class: 2013 SR
Position: OT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 9
Pos Rank: 3

Head Coach: Mike McCoy

2012 Record: 7-9

ANALYSIS: San Diego has to pass protect much better to get Phillip Rivers back on track as one of the game's top signal callers. They have to grab the high flyer Lane Johnson. He's only played tackle for two seasons but looks the part. He had a great Senior Bowl week and knocked it out of the park at the NFL Combine. They grab Johnson despite Star Lotulelei and Jarvis Jones still on the board.

Round 1
12
Miami Dolphins
Height: 6-1
Weight: 210
Hometown: Miami, FL
College: Florida State
Class: 2013 JR
Position: CB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 20
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Joe Philbin

2012 Record: 7-9

ANALYSIS: Wow, the Dolphins made a huge splash in free agency, spending money and landing key players at multiple positions like receiver and linebacker. While they would love Johnson to slide to them at this spot he’s off the board. Losing Sean Smith to the Chiefs was a big loss so they go get cornerback Xavier Rhodes.

Round 1
13
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Star Lotulelei, Utah
Height: 6-2
Weight: 311
Hometown: South Jordan, UT
College: Utah
Class: 2013 SR
Position: DT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 5
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Greg Schiano

2012 Record: 7-9

ANALYSIS: Tampa is courting New York for Darrelle Revis. Buc fans are hoping they land Revis and hold on to this pick (giving Jets 2014 first rounder). If that’s the case and Star Lotulelei is still on the board, they get this massive Ute here. He’s just too good to pass up and he would fill a glaring need.

Round 1
14
Carolina Panthers
Height: 6-2
Weight: 294
Hometown: St. Louis, MO
College: Missouri
Class: 2013 SR
Position: DT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 13
Pos Rank: 3

Head Coach: Ron Rivera

2012 Record: 7-9

ANALYSIS: Carolina has to be tempted to pick a cornerback here but they go with Sheldon Richardson. He would give the Panther defense a big boost as Carolina continue to rebuild that side of the ball.

Round 1
15
New Orleans Saints
Jarvis Jones
Player: Jarvis Jones
Height: 6-2
Weight: 245
Hometown: Columbus, GA
College: Georgia
Class: 2013 JR
Position: OLB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 10
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Sean Payton

2012 Record: 7-9

ANALYSIS: The Saints are moving from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4 and New Orleans would have a chance to pick the draft's top pass rusher in outside linebacker Jarvis Jones. It would be a great fit for the Saints new scheme.

Round 1
16
St. Louis Rams
Height: 6-2
Weight: 311
Hometown: Wilmington, NC
Class: 2013 SR
Position: OG
Rating:
Overall Rank: 14
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Jeff Fisher

2012 Record: 7-8

ANALYSIS: With the first of their two first round selections the Rams draft Jonathan Cooper. He will fill a major hole on their offensive front. He can play both guard positions and even center. St. Louis has to do a better job of protecting their franchise quarterback and Cooper is a guy you can plug in on day one. With the addition of tackle Jake Long and now Cooper the Rams front would be vastly improved.

Round 1
17
Pittsburgh Steelers
Kenny Vaccaro/GETTY IMAGES
Height: 6-0
Weight: 214
Hometown: Early, TX
College: Texas
Class: 2013 SR
Position: S
Rating:
Overall Rank: 18
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Mike Tomlin

2012 Record: 8-8

ANALYSIS: The Steelers could go in a few directions here at receiver, pass rusher or safety. Safety Kenny Vaccaro could be their highest guy on the their board at this spot. Vaccaro would be ideal with the age in this part of the Pittsburgh secondary.

Round 1
18
Dallas Cowboys
Height: 6-2
Weight: 313
Hometown: Jefferson City, MO
Class: 2013 SR
Position: DT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 27
Pos Rank: 4

Head Coach: Jason Garrett

2012 Record: 8-8

ANALYSIS: As awful as the Cowboys offensive front is Dallas likely goes after the defensive tackle they view as the best three-technique for Monte Kiffin’s defense. He loves someone that’s quick and can penetrate. Sheldon Richardson is their likely top target here but he’s gone. Instead it’s Sylvester Williams from North Carolina. If one of the top two guards is available (Cooper or Warmack) Jerry Jones will have a tough decision to make.

Round 1
19
New York Giants
Player: D.J. Fluker
Height: 6-4.5
Weight: 339
Hometown: Foley, AL
College: Alabama
Class: 2013 JR
Position: OT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 17
Pos Rank: 4

Head Coach: Tom Coughlin

2012 Record: 9-7

ANALYSIS: The Giants will have a choice between a great pass rusher in Bjoern Werner that fits their front or a massive offensive tackle like D.J. Fluker that could help jump start their run game and protect Eli Manning. That’s a coin flip with the edge going to the right tackle from Alabama.

Round 1
20
Chicago Bears
Height: 6-1.5
Weight: 216
Hometown: Rock Hill, SC
College: Tennessee
Class: 2013 JR
Position: WR
Rating:
Overall Rank: 15
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Marc Trestman

2012 Record: 10-6

ANALYSIS: Chicago was pretty active in free agency and filled needs at tight end and offensive tackle. They would love Cooper or Warmack here but it’s doubtful either one of those guards slides to No. 20. Instead, the Bears land the most explosive outside receiver in this draft in Cordarrelle Patterson from Tennessee.

Round 1
21
Cincinnati Bengals
Height: 6-5
Weight: 310
Hometown: Manchester, Great Britain
College: Florida State
Class: 2013 JR
Position: OT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 25
Pos Rank: 5

Head Coach: Marvin Lewis

2012 Record: 10-6

ANALYSIS: At this point, with the uncertainly of re-signing right tackle Andre Smith, the Bengals have to find a replacement. The top guy on the board is the raw but extremely athletic and talented Menelik Watson.

Round 1
22
St. Louis Rams
Player: Tavon Austin
Height: 5-8
Weight: 174
Hometown: Baltimore, MD
College: West Virginia
Class: 2013 SR
Position: WR
Rating:
Overall Rank: 12
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Jeff Fisher

2012 Record: 7-8

ANALYSIS: The Rams need some weapons in the passing game, especially after losing Danny Amendola. They could go for an outside wideout here but instead draft the explosive slot wide receiver Tavon Austin. Once again St. Louis becomes the fastest show on turf.

Round 1
23
Minnesota Vikings
Player: Keenan Allen
Height: 6-2
Weight: 206
Hometown: Greensboro, NC
College: California
Class: 2013 JR
Position: WR
Rating:
Overall Rank: 29
Pos Rank: 3

Head Coach: Leslie Frazier

2012 Record: 10-6

ANALYSIS: With the trade of Percy Harvin the Vikings have to go wide receiver with one of their two first round selections. They don’t wait long to scoop up Keenan Allen despite needing help at several other positions.

Round 1
24
Indianapolis Colts
Height: 5-11.5
Weight: 190
Hometown: Tacoma, WA
College: Washington
Class: 2013 SR
Position: CB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 22
Pos Rank: 3

Head Coach: Chuck Pagano

2012 Record: 11-5

ANALYSIS: Like Minnesota, Indy needs help at several positions like right tackle, cornerback and on the defensive front. The Colts could get help on the defensive front here but cornerback Desmond Trufant is too good to pass up.

Round 1
25
Minnesota Vikings
Alec Ogletree, Georgia
Height: 6-2
Weight: 242
Hometown: Newnan, GA
College: Georgia
Class: 2013 JR
Position: MLB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 21
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Leslie Frazier

2012 Record: 10-6

ANALYSIS: While it would be tempting to go back to back with another receiver with this pick or a defensive linemen the Vikings get a top 15 talent at No. 25 with linebacker Alec Ogletree. Sure he has some red-flags but he has too much talent to pass up and he fills a huge need at the linebacker position. He can play inside and out.

Round 1
26
Green Bay Packers
Height: 6-4
Weight: 250
Hometown: Rowlett, TX
College: Texas A&M
Class: 2013 JR
Position: DE
Rating:
Overall Rank: 34
Pos Rank: 6

Head Coach: Mike McCarthy

2012 Record: 11-5

ANALYSIS: The Packers haven't had a running game in a few seasons and it will be very tempting for Green Bay to pick Eddie Lacy. However, their defense has to get better. While Damonte Moore hasn’t exactly had a great off-season but what he put on film in 2012 was terrific.

Round 1
27
Houston Texans
Height: 6-4
Weight: 196
Hometown: Virginia Beach, VA
College: Tennessee
Class: 2013 JR
Position: WR
Rating:
Overall Rank: 40
Pos Rank: 5

Head Coach: Gary Kubiak

2012 Record: 12-4

ANALYSIS: The Texans will look long and hard at drafting a linebacker here but they also need a No. 2 wide receiver to compliment Andre Johnson. They can’t pass on the athletic Justin Hunter.

Round 1
28
Denver Broncos
Player: Matt Elam
Height: 5-9.5
Weight: 208
Hometown: West Palm Beach, FL
College: Florida
Class: 2013 SR
Position: S
Rating:
Overall Rank: 37
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: John Fox

2012 Record: 13-3

ANALYSIS: Could Denver go running back here and land Lacy? Or do they get help on the defensive front or secondary? The Broncos could use another safety and Matt Elam is a playmaker from Gainesville.

Round 1
29
New England Patriots
Blidi Wreh-Wilson, Connecticut
Height: 6-0.5
Weight: 195
Hometown: Edinboro, PA
College: Connecticut
Class: 2013 SR
Position: CB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 67
Pos Rank: 8

Head Coach: Bill Belichick

2012 Record: 12-4

ANALYSIS: What are the odds that New England actually pick from this spot? They probably trade down but if they don’t the Patriots could go a number of directions. Despite resigning Aqib Talib they need help at cornerback. They know all about Blidi Wreh-Wilson.

Round 1
30
Atlanta Falcons
Height: 6-3
Weight: 266
Hometown: Salisbury, CT
College: Florida State
Class: 2013 JR
Position: DE
Rating:
Overall Rank: 16
Pos Rank: 4

Head Coach: Mike Smith

2012 Record: 13-3

ANALYSIS: The Falcons are ecstatic that FSU defensive end Bjoern Werner is still on the board. They make this pick in less than 30 seconds.

Round 1
31
San Francisco 49ers
Eric Reid (Getty Images)
Player: Eric Reid
Height: 6-1
Weight: 213
Hometown: Geismar, LA
College: LSU
Class: 2013 JR
Position: S
Rating:
Overall Rank: 57
Pos Rank: 4

Head Coach: Jim Harbaugh

2012 Record: 11-4

ANALYSIS: The 49ers have 14 picks in this draft , including No. 31 and 34. They have to improve their secondary and land a defensive tackle. Here they get an athletic and playmaking safety in Eric Reid from LSU.

Round 1
32
Baltimore Ravens
Player: Kevin Minter
Height: 5-11.5
Weight: 246
Hometown: Suwanee, GA
College: LSU
Class: 2013 JR
Position: MLB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 41
Pos Rank: 3

Head Coach: John Harbaugh

2012 Record: 10-6

ANALYSIS: The Ravens have lost a ton of veteran players via trade and free agency over the last few weeks. Replenishing the linebackers is a most and they grab middle linebacker Kevin Minter here.
