Saints Fantasy Five

Saints Fantasy Five

In this new feature, scout.com looks at the top five questions for all 32 teams that fantasy football participants will have to face in their drafts this summer.

New Orleans Saints

1. Will Aaron Brooks be a solid fantasy quarterback this season?

scout.com: Brooks has been a pretty solid as a fantasy starter up until last season when he struggled with consistency from week to week.

New offensive coordinator Mike Sheppard is expected to use more of a run-first mentality so that should help take the pressure off of Brooks. That alone should help get him back to stability from week to week. If they don't have to play from behind as much, the pressure won't be on Brooks to win the games for them. With that said, Brooks could have a bounce back season.

2. Will RB Deuce McAllister rebound from last year's disappointing numbers?

scout.com: In his first two seasons as a starter, McAllister looked to be on the verge of fantasy stardom but his rushing yardage dropped almost 600 yards from the year previous. Some of that could be attributed to about 80 less carries. The other problem was he had some nagging injuries and looked less explosive.

Playing from behind seems to be a constant problem for McAllister and that will continue to cut in to his carry total. Their defense may see an improvement in the secondary but overall, they still aren't going to stop offenses on a consistent basis.

The good news is head coach Jim Haslett is on record saying that the team will make a stronger commitment to run the football. If they do, that will help them control the clock better which means their defense won't be on the field as much. All of this means better things for McAllister.

3. Will WR Donte' Stallworth Finally Realize his Potential?

scout.com: While he has caught 16 touchdown passes in his first three seasons, Stallworth has yet to surpass 767 yards receiving in any of those seasons. Some of his coming up short might because of nagging injuries but the talent is certainly there for him to put up big numbers.

But until he does, draft him for depth and continue to monitor his progress.

4. Are any of their tight ends worth drafting?

scout.com: It was just a few years ago that Boo Williams was on the cusp of fantasy stardom…or so it seemed. However, he followed up last year with less than stellar numbers. Now the team seems to have a glut of tight ends on the roster which seems to be an indication that the job is up for grabs.

At this point, pass on their tight ends.

5. Is their fantasy defense worth drafting as a starter or backup?

scout.com: It's been a while since the Saints' fantasy defense was worth selecting as a fantasy starter. The best attribute they possess is a strong pass rush but they will give up a ton of points and their turnover totals should be mediocre.

With that said, draft them only as your backup.
