The Saints couldn't do much in free agency because they finished as one of the top four teams. They'll look to improve their roster in this year's draft.

Players Added

Zak Keasey/FB - He didn't play last season, but fits in as a second fullback.

Alex Brown/DE - Brown will get involved right away in their rotation at the position at left end, but could start.

Players Lost

Mark Brunell/QB - The team is expected to sign a veteran by the start of training camp.

Mike Bell/RB - The Saints declined to keep him because they are high on Lynell Hamilton.

Kyle Eckel/FB - He was claimed off waivers last season and wound up starting a few games. Still, he wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent.

Dan Campbell/TE - For years, Campbell was one of the better blocking tight ends in the NFL, but he's missed a lot of time due to injury. He missed all of last season due to a knee injury.

Billy Miller/TE - He didn't play last season due to injury.

Darnell Dinkins/TE - The journeyman tight end started three games for the Saints last season.

Jamar Nesbit/G - The veteran interior lineman should find a backup job before too long.

Kendrick Clancy/DT - He fits in as a fourth tackle at his point in his career.

Charles Grant/DE - The veteran defensive end is coming off of triceps surgery and may not find a new home for a few months. He still should find a significant role elsewhere once his healthy.

Paul Spicer/DE - He signed very late last season for depth purposes, but never played.

Scott Fujita/LB - There will be a huge void at SLB with his departure.

Mark Simoneau/LB - The versatile veteran linebacker should find a backup job by the start of training camps.

Darren Sharper/S - He's coming off of knee surgery. Sharper's salary demand will have to come down if he's to re-sign with the team.

Pre-Draft Team Needs

Strong-Side Linebacker - There doesn't appear to be a viable replacement left on the 80-man roster. Third-year LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar is talented, but is a biz undersized for the position.

Free Safety - With Sharper unsigned, it's question whether the team has his potential replacement on their 80-man roster.

Other Issues to Address

Defensive End

Guard Depth

Outside Linebacker Depth
