Biography:
LaDainian Tomlinson was chosen by the Chargers in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft, 5th overall. He was a key part of the trade that sent the No. 1 overall pick to the Falcons (Michael Vick) for the 5th overall pick (Tomlinson), Tim Dwight, a third rounder in 2001 (Tay Cody) and a 2nd rounder in 2002 (Reche Caldwell). He signed an eight-year extension on Aug. 14, 2004.

NFL

2007

Led the league in rushing for the second consecutive year with 1,474 yards. He was selected to his fifth Pro Bowl, but sat out due to injury (knee, did not need surgery). Recorded 15 rushing touchdowns and three receiving. Started in all 16 games and helped lead the Chargers to an AFC Championship appearance.

2006

Led the league in rushing with 1,815 yards. Set new league records for total touchdowns (31), rushing touchdowns (28) and points scored (186). Caught 56 passes for 508 yards and two scores and threw two touchdowns as well. He was selected to his fourth Pro Bowl.

2005

Ran the ball 339 times for 1,462 yards and 18 touchdowns. He added 51 receptions for 370 yards and two scores and threw for three touchdowns as well. He was selected to his third Pro Bowl.

2004

Tomlinson was selected to play in his second Pro Bowl in 2004. He scored in 12 straight games and had 17 rushing touchdowns on the season with one receiving tally added in. He rushed for 1,335 yards and owns the team record for most rushing yards over a career with 5,899. He also added 53 receptions for 441 yards.

2003

TOmlinson became the first player in NFL history to have 100 receptions and 1,000 rushing yards in the same season. He broke 200 yards rushing twice on the year and so much more...

2002

Tomlinson ended the year with well over 1,600 yards rushing. He is taking the talent he showed in his rookie year and is on pace to shatter records. He has already broke the record for most yards from scrimmage and rushing yards in a season.

2001

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson capped off an outstanding rookie campaign by being selected as an alternate to the Pro Bowl and first or second on all Rookie-of-the-Year ballots. He earned the postseason recognition after recording the second-highest rushing total in team history with 1,236 yards. He came up just 114 yards shy of Natrone Means’ team record of 1,350 yards. With 1,236 yards rushing, Tomlinson finished the season ranked ninth in the NFL and fifth in the AFC. Runner-up in Associated Press Offensive Rookie of Year voting behind Chicago’s Anthony Thomas.

Tomlinson finished his first NFL campaign with 1,603 total yards, including 1,236 rushing yards and 367 receiving yards setting the team record for most yards from scrimmage.

College

Heisman Trophy finalist as senior...only second player in college football history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in season and 5,000 yards for career...racked up 5,263 rushing yards during career at TCU, ranking sixth in NCAA Division I-A history...became just ninth player in I-A history to rush for more than 5,000 career yards...in final two seasons at TCU ran for combined 4,008 yards and led nation in rushing both years...was third player to lead the nation in rushing in back-to-back years...2,158 yards as senior were fourth-best in NCAA hi
